Guide
Which NDIS Commission portal should a behaviour support practice use?
In short: For behaviour support, the Commission’s new portal handles new plan lodgements and work on plans lodged from 12 October 2026. Monthly reporting for plans lodged before that date continues in the existing portal. Choose the task and check the plan’s lodgement history; an internal clinic record does not replace the required portal action. This guide was checked on 21 October 2026.
Choose the task and the plan before opening the portal
A practice may need to follow up work across both portals during the transition. Begin with the plan reference, the task and its official lodgement history. The Commission's “Which portal do I use?” guidance is the current authority; use it again if the process changes.
| Task during the transition | Portal indicated by the Commission |
|---|---|
| Lodge a new BSP | New portal |
| Accept or reject a plan as an implementing provider | New portal |
| Authorisation evidence and monthly reporting for plans lodged from 12 October 2026 | New portal |
| Monthly reporting for plans lodged before 12 October 2026 | Existing portal |
| Find historical BSP records | Existing portal; some records and attachments are not yet available in the new portal |
The Commission also says that a plan rejected by an implementing provider in the new portal cannot be edited and needs to be lodged again. Check the official instructions before proceeding.
A clinic follow-up list that keeps official actions visible
The following suggested fields help the practice establish what needs attention. They are not a replacement portal or a prescribed reporting form.
| Follow-up field | Why it helps the team |
|---|---|
| Task and responsible provider | Distinguishes the specialist practice's work from the implementer's work |
| Plan reference and version | Identifies the document the action relates to |
| Portal and relevant lodgement date | Gives the reviewer a starting point for the official record |
| Official reference or receipt location | Lets the reviewer retrieve the evidence through authorised access |
| Open question and contact | Shows whose answer is still needed |
| Next check and outcome | Records what changed after the follow-up |
Review a missing receipt separately from a missing plan, and both separately from a portal error. Keep the actual document in the appropriate authorised storage rather than copying participant information into a general task list.
What if monthly reporting or a plan action is unavailable?
Check the Commission's current portal issues page before treating the problem as a missed internal step. When checked on 21 October 2026, that page still described an existing-portal issue affecting monthly reporting, activation and authorisation actions as Fix in progress. An expected resolution date does not confirm restoration. Follow the Commission's current instructions and any update to that page.
For the practice's own follow-up, retain a factual record of the affected task, when it was checked, the official guidance consulted and the next review. That record does not fulfil the underlying submission or reporting obligation by itself.
A fictional example with two plans
A clinic is following up two participants. One plan was lodged before 12 October, and another was lodged after the transition. The practice's list records the relevant portal against each plan rather than applying one portal label to every participant.
For the first item, an implementer has reported a portal problem. The clinic records the outstanding confirmation and checks the Commission's current notice. For the second, the team locates the official record relevant to the task. Each item remains tied to its own evidence and responsible contact. This is a fictional coordination example, not a completed report or a customer case.
Where NDPRO fits alongside the official portals
NDPRO is a standalone specialist workspace for the behaviour support practice's recorded BSP dates, milestones and linked restrictive-practice information. Use those records as the starting point for a practice review, then check the official portal evidence for the action concerned.
In a 30-minute walkthrough, ask to see a fictional participant's pathway and linked records. Compare those with your task list and decide how the team will retain official receipt references in its agreed process. Complete lodgement, acceptance and monthly reporting through the relevant official portal. For a service outage, follow the Commission's current instructions. Splose is an optional connection.
For the broader responsibility trail, read the implementing-provider handover guide and BSP date guide, or book a 30-minute NDPRO walkthrough.
